2015 Inglenook Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon |
|
The historic Inglenook vineyards changed hands in 1975 when it was purchased by Francis Ford Coppola. Coppola bought everything but the famous Inglenook name. At the time of the purchase the estate included 1,560 acres of land and the original Gustave Niebaum mansion. It was at this time that the property was renamed Niebaum-Coppola Estate Winery. Under its new owners, the Inglenook Niebaum-Coppola Estate Winery had their first official harvest with the 1978 vintage. In that year, they created their new, Proprietary Blend, Rubicon, which took inspiration from the fateful decision of Julius Caesar to cross the eponymous river and challenge Rome. Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon can be considered the second wine to Rubicon. The wine is produced from 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot and 1% Merlot. The wine is typically aged for 18 months in 90% French oak barrels and 10% American oak barrels that are on average 50% new and the remaining barrels are 1 year old. For this week only, Wine Club members will receive one free bottle of Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon with their purchase of one six pack case. (Offer ends Tomorrow. Offer applies to current and new Wine Club members. Not to be combined with other offers.)
